Enrollment Options

Kanawha County Schools has many options for enrollment.

  • KCS Preschool (PreK)
    Kanawha County Schools' Preschool program offers services to 4-year-old and eligible 3-year-old children at 81 classrooms throughout 900 square miles within the county.  Full day services are provided at 63 school-based sites and 18 collaborative-based sites four days a week with Fridays open to providing home visits and conferences. Wraparound care is available at a number of county collaborative sites.

  • K - 12
    New K-12 students are able to enroll at their home school by calling the school directly and/or setting up an appointment.  The school will let you know of any required enrollment documents. If you don't know your home school, you can enter your address into our LookItUp website. All schools have their contact information listed through the "Select a School" menu in the top left of our website. 

  • Afterschool/Summer Camps
    The Kanawha County Schools Community Education Program runs the district's K-5 Third Base After-schoool programs and Summer Camps. These are private pay childcare programs that are licensed by the State. For more information, visit KCSCEP through the link above.

  • Kanawha Co. Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE)
    The purpose of CTE is to develop good work habits and teach entry-level skills needed in today's work world. Students interested in attending either technical center should contact a counselor at their schools. KCS offers two CTE centers as well as CTE programming in our high schools. For in-school CTE, please check with your high school counselor.

    • Ben Franklin Career Center
      Ben Franklin offers both high school and adult students opportunities for learning, training and further education that enrich their lives and also promotes the economic growth of our region and state.  All instruction is designed to meet the needs, abilities, and interest of our students, our community and the businesses we serve.
    • Carver Career and Technical Education Center
      Carver Career Center offers nineteen programs for high school students. All programs follow the twelve Simulated Workplace protocols, which incorporate real workplace practice into daily curriculum.  Students not only learn technical skills but also the soft skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.  The vision of Carver CTE Center is to build a successful future one skill at a time.
    • Adult Program
      Adult programs are offered at both Ben Franklin & Carver. Click the links above to see a listing of those available programs and find program information. 

  • Collaborative Program at West Virginia State University
    The mission of the University Collaborative Program is to provide challenging instruction to at-risk students in a collegiate setting. We  serve as a liaison between Kanawha County Schools and West Virginia State University to prepare students for success in the 21st century. Learn more through the link above.
  • KCS Virtual School 
    KCS, private school, microschool or homeschool students can participate in a full-time or part-time virtual school program where the courses are customized to meet the students' needs.  Students can also take a course at the school in conjunction with the virtual program, or choose to have all of their classes virtual.  Students can also participate in sports as well as school functions and clubs.

  • WIN Academy
    The WIN Academy through BridgeValley Community & Technical College provides an accelerated degree program for up to 120 high school juniors and seniors who are passionate and focused on starting a career in nursing.
