This year our Kanawha County Schools Spring Special Olympics/Special Games track and field competition will be held at Laidley Field in Charleston from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Special Olympics and Special Games are two separate events that take place concurrently on the same field at the same time. The criteria of those qualifying in these events are as follows:
Special Olympics:
All students with significant developmental delays 8 years of age and older as well as, students that are orthopedically impaired are eligible to participate. A majority of these students receive services in our self-contained ID and AU programs. Medical releases are NOT required this year.
Special Games:
All students with significant developmental delays 7 years and younger as well as students that are orthopedically impaired are eligible to participate. Medical releases are NOT required.
Transportation will be provided by the school but you may transport your child if you wish. Limited parking is located across the street.
Parents are encouraged to attend the event. School buses will be arriving 9am with the first events of the games will start at 10am. Each school will arrange brown bag lunches for the children.
Admission to the event is free of charge.

Identified students with special needs taking the WV General Assessment (AIR or SAT day test) Test are not eligible to participate. However, there are unique situations that may be considered for participation eligibility.
