FAFSA Information
Seniors: If you have not done so, you can still apply for FAFSA - the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at studentaid.gov. The FAFSA will determine your eligibility for scholarships, grants, loans for which you qualify, and determine your family's financial contribution to your higher education.
The Higher Education Grant, need-based financial aid for WV students, requires that FAFSA be filed by April 15.
You will need to fill out the FAFSA even if you are planning to attend a local community college like BridgeValley, Carver Career Center, or Ben Franklin Career Center (which you could attend as an adult student).
If you filled out the FAFSA by the March 1 deadline required for the PROMISE scholarship, you do not need to fill it out again.
You (and your parents) will need the following information in order to complete FAFSA:
- Social Security Numbers
- Driver's License Number
- Alien Registration Number (if you are not a US citizen)
- Previous year's Federal Tax information or tax returns (including IRS W-2 information). If you have not yet filed a tax return, you can still submit FAFSA but you must provide income and tax information.
- Information on savings, investments, business or farm assets.
