When Princess Jasmine glides onto the ice in Disney On Ice presents Road Trip Adventures, she’s not just performing for thousands of fans — she’s showcasing a dream that began right here in Kanawha County Schools.
Ciara Pinckney, a proud KCS (St. Albans High School Class of 2013) alum and Charleston native, is currently touring nationally and internationally with Disney On Ice. This weekend, her journey comes full circle as the production returns to Charleston for six performances from January 8–11.
From a Local Ice Rink to the World Stage
Ciara’s skating journey began at age seven when a new ice rink opened near her home. One visit was all it took. From that moment on, she was hooked — practicing, training, and steadily building the skills that would carry her far beyond her hometown.
Her dedication paid off. After years of competitive skating and coaching, Ciara joined Feld Entertainment in 2017 and has since performed in nearly 30 countries, bringing Disney stories to life on ice for families around the globe.
For Ciara, performing is about more than athletic skill. It’s about connection.
She treasures the sounds of the audience, the shared joy, and the chance to create magical memories — the same kind she remembers from attending Disney On Ice as a child.
“From a local ice rink in Charleston to performing in nearly 30 countries, KCS alumni are showing the world what’s possible.”
Home Will Always Be Charleston
Despite performing across continents, Ciara says Charleston will always be home. It’s where her passion for skating began and where she learned that big dreams can start in familiar places.
Her story is a powerful reminder that KCS alumni are everywhere — performing, leading, creating, and inspiring on stages across the world.
From a local rink to international arenas, Ciara Pinckney’s journey proves that when students follow their passions, there’s no limit to where they can go.
