Horace Mann Middle School has launched a new House Point System designed to strengthen school culture, encourage positive behavior, and build connections among students across grade levels.

Engaged Learning

Inspired by the nationally recognized Ron Clark Academy model, the House Point System places students into one of four houses:

  1. Protos

  2. Amistad

  3. Isibindi

  4. Altruismo

Each house includes a mix of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, giving students opportunities to build relationships and work together beyond their classrooms and grade levels.

The Point System

Throughout the school year, students earn points for their house by demonstrating kindness, leadership, school pride, positive behavior, strong attendance, and academic effort. The system encourages friendly competition while recognizing the everyday actions that contribute to a positive learning environment.

It is designed to educate, empower, and motivate students by celebrating effort, character, and teamwork. The goal is to help students feel connected to something larger than themselves while growing together as a school community.

It's Game Time

Horace Mann Middle recently held a kickoff event to introduce the program, giving students the opportunity to meet their house members, learn house cheers, and begin building excitement around the new system.
