KCS COVID Case Procedure

Below please find:

  1. The KCS-specific procedure used when there is a positive case of COVID-19 in a school or if there is an individual with symptoms in the building.
  2. The KCS checklist that principals submit to the district giving details of the specific school case. The checklist information informs district officials and the local health department as they make decisions in courses of action.

In addition, you may wish to review the West Virginia Department of Education's "Roadmap to Recovery" for updated (2021) guidance on COVID-19 in schools.

You may also listen to a podcast with our local KCS-assigned epidemiologist with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department linked here. They discuss the contact tracing process, difference between direct contact and more extended contact, how decisions are made on whether to close, and much more.
