All Kanawha County Schools will be open tomorrow. Any bus service updates have been delivered this afternoon through our system. Please check for those. Previous updates:

Please find information below regarding November 21-23, 2022. These are regular school days as part of the KCS 2022-2023 calendar.

  • The district as a whole does NOT plan to go remote next Monday-Wednesday. We believe that our staff will show up and transport students and our schools will be adequately staffed, but we must also be prepared - as we are every day - for something to cause a transition.

  • If a staff shortage does occur next week, individual school closures and a switch to remote learning MAY be considered.

  • While we are trying to get a better idea before Monday, we may not know until the night before or morning of the school day as that is when last minute call-offs occur.

  • Our goal is in-person learning. We’re trying to be proactive in allowing guardians and staff time to prepare in the case that we have to transition individual schools to remote learning.

  • On a regular school day, we are around 24 bus drivers short on top of a shortage of both substitutes and professional staff in some of our schools. In planning for next week, we are doing the very best that we can and we are trying to give guardians an opportunity to have a backup plan just in case.

  • Please encourage your students to bring their iPads home leading up to and during that week. And, please let your school know if you do not have internet at home. Schools can support families with hot spots if there is need.
