SBA Approves Funding Request for Elem. School
School Building Authority Awards $20-Million for New Elementary School
The West Virginia School Building Authority (SBA) awarded Kanawha County Schools just over $20-million Tuesday morning. The money will be used for a new elementary school building on the eastern end of Kanawha County.
“We are very pleased the SBA has awarded us the requested funding for the construction of this new facility,” said Tom Williams, superintendent of Kanawha County Schools. “Our students will receive a state-of-the-art facility that will also meet the needs of the community and provide necessary wrap-around services.”
The planning stage for this project will begin late this year or early next year. Once completed, this facility will be the new home for students currently attending Malden, Belle, Mary Ingles, and Midland Trail Elementary Schools.
The building process will take several years and we will keep our school communities updated on the KCS website and social media pages as the project moves along.
