Nitro High School Students and Staff filed into the gymnasium Tuesday morning, for what they thought was an assembly with West Virginia State Superintendent Michele Blatt.
After hearing from Superintendent Blatt, it was announced that a member of the Nitro High School staff was being named a 2024-2025 Milken Award Winner.
Every year, The Milken Family Foundation honors a select few teachers across the country for their outstanding work. Along with the being recognized as a Milken Educator, Mr. Wolfe was also given $25,000 from the Milken Family Foundation.
Before moving into education, Mr. Wolfe spent three years as an engineer. He has brought his love of design into the classroom to bring his engineering and math lessons to life.
Wolfe joins a national network of over 3,000 Milken Educators spanning the Awards' nearly 40-year history as the nation's preeminent teacher-recognition program. Hailed as the "Oscars of Teaching," the Milken Educator Awards inspire educators, students and entire communities to "Celebrate, Elevate and Activate" the K-12 teaching profession and encourage young, capable people to pursue teaching as a career.
