Midland Trail Elementary participates in Project Lead the Way

Midland Trail Elementary is one of three KCS schools participating in Project Lead The Way (PLTW). PLTW provides a transformative learning experience for students and creates an engaging and hands-on classroom environment. PLTW programs include computer science, engineering, and biomedical science.

Students and Midland Trail worked on an engineering project about parachutes. They hypothesized what shape parachute would drop "Bobby" the bobby pin safely to the ground. The first shape students tested resembled a leaf, and they quickly learned it caused "Bobby" to spiral all the way to the floor.

This project also allowed students to participate in the full engineering process:Ask - Explore - Model - Evaluate - Explain
