Kanawha County Schools is now enrolling for its virtual online program for both high school and middle school.

High School & Middle School

In conjunction with our 8 high schools and 13 middle schools, KCS is currently enrolling students in grades 6 - 12 into WV Virtual Online for the Fall Semester of the 2019-2020 school year. If you are currently enrolled in a school, then speak to your counselor today. If you are currently a home school student, you can begin registration through the application link below. This program is free to students who are currently being homeschooled and public school students in Kanawha County.

Applications for both programs can be found at: http://virtual.kana.k12.wv.us/.

Virtual courses offer students numerous benefits in terms of time flexibility and program customization. Along with these advantages, students also assume increased responsibility in time management, organization, self-direction, and self-regulation.

Students have the flexibility to choose whether to take all of their courses virtually or only a few virtual courses in conjunction with courses taken at their local school. The choices are endless, but the goal is to meet the needs of our student learner. Whatever option the student chooses, they are still a member of the school and can participate in school activities as well as team sports if they qualify under WVSSAC guidelines.

The Kanawha County Schools virtual program, and other virtual programs across the state, are possible after state lawmakers passed Senate Bill 630- the Accessibility and Equity in Public Education Enhancement Act - during the 2017 regular legislative session. The bill allows for the creation of virtual programs by county boards.

The Kanawha County Schools Virtual School Policy is available on the KCS website through this link.
