For immediate release- The 70th Annual Gazette-Mail and Kanawha County Schools Majorette and Band Festival will be held at Laidley Field on September 27, 2016, beginning at 6:30pm. To celebrate this 70 year milestone, the Majorette Festival Board is inviting all former band directors and majorettes that have participated in the festival previously to be recognized that evening.

Those who would like to participate in this recognition must contact the current band director in the area they attended; for instance, Charleston High School alumni would contact Ms. Blankenship at Capital High School. For security reasons, all participants will need to be placed on a list before the event to be admitted to the field that evening. Deadline for registration is Sept, 23. For questions concerning this process, please call Mark Davis @ 304-348-6152.

Proceeds from the festival will be divided among all eight Kanawha County High School programs. Tickets for the festival may be purchased ahead of time at Kerr’s Music World, Gorby’s Music of South Charleston or at any local high school for $7. Tickets purchased at the gate on the day of the event will be $8. Marshall University’s Marching Thunder will perform at 8:30pm.
