Ron Reedy, Principal
Ron Reedy, 2016 WV Principal of the Year, graduated from West Virginia University with both bachelors and master’s degrees. He also holds a certification in school administration from Salem International University, as well as having completed the conservatory program in filmmaking from the American Film Institute. He served in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot before his journey took him to Hollywood and a career in Film and Television Writing and Directing. He returned to West Virginia in 2000 to attend to family business and began teaching high school theatre at Riverside High School, where he built an award-winning program. There, he discovered a love of working with students that has grown with the years. He is a distinguished scholar from the West Virginia Principal’s Leadership Academy, the 2012 West Virginia Assistant Principal of the Year and currently serves as Principal at Sissonville High School. He is a 32° Scottish Rite Master Mason, a Shriner and attends First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, WV. Mr. Reedy is leading Sissonville High School in an exciting direction aimed at reducing student apathy and increasing test scores. The program which is built around the high school’s initials: SHS holds that by good Scholarship learning can occur for every student, coupled with all students behaving with Honor toward one another and regarding themselves and that by an attitude of Service to their fellow students and their community; they will realize HOPE for a better future for themselves and the world. The students have enthusiastically accepted this theme and the results are already apparent in the school. Reedy said, “We have the best students and the best community in the county. Now we will show that we have the best high school to serve them and make them believe in a greater good for themselves and our community.”
Dr. Melanie White, Curriculum Assistant Principal
Dr. Melanie Edwards White, 2017 WV Assistant Principal of the Year, is the Curriculum Assistant Principal at Sissonville High School. She is the wife of Dr. Gerry White and the mother of Chloe White. Dr. White graduated from Liberty University with a Social Science degree before attending Marshall University and obtaining a master’s degree in Leadership Studies and a doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction. She looks forward to helping our students graduate and achieve excellence in their scholarship and learning.
