The Andrew Jackson Middle School community came together Monday to offer a $1,418 donation to Autumn Cole, a senior from Nitro High School, as she continues her battle with Leukemia.

Parents should bring their child's state certified birth certificate, current immunization records, current physical exam/well child check, current dental exam and proof of income if families' income falls below the federal poverty guidelines.

Sissonville Middle School History Bowl RESA III Champions

Sissonville Middle entered two teams in the regional RESA III History Bowl, winning both the 2016 championship and the runner-up honors. Both teams will represent Kanawaha County schools in the state History Bowl competition on April 26th.

Free, Confidential Assistance Completing FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

High School Seniors and their families can receive free, confidential assistance completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) during College Goal Sunday, February 21st from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Financial aid experts will be available at both BridgeValley CTC in South Charleston and at WVSU in Institute. The FAFSA is required to be completed by all high school seniors who plan to attend college this Fall.

Give Kids a Smile Program on February 5th

Capital City Give Kids a Smile invites all West Virginia families with children ages 2-18, who do not have dental health insurance to attend this event. All children will receive an exam by a dentist, x-rays, and a cleaning. Limited restorative treatment may be done if time permits on this day after the exam and cleaning have been completed.

2016 WV General Summative Assessment for Kanawha County Home School Students

Parents of Kanawha County home school students may wish to have their son or daughter participate in the 2016 WV General Summative Assessment to meet state code requirements for testing while home schooling. To request participation, parents must contact the school counselor at the school in their attendance area by January 31, 2016.

Andrew Jackson Middle School Named State Winner in the $2 million Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest

Mr. David LaMaster, social studies teacher, was selected as the West Virginia State Winner for 2015-2016. His entry was chosen for its innovative approach for advancing interest in STEM. He will now go on to represent the state in the national competition.
