Frequently Asked Questions

What is Third Base?

Third Base is after school childcare provided in the safety of one of twenty-one Kanawha County schools. It offers time for supervised homework, snack, crafts, socialization and physical activity.

Students arrive at Third Base immediately when school is out and stay there until they are picked up by a parent or designated pickup person. When schools are closed or dismissed for inclement weather, Third Base is closed.

How much does Third Base/On Deck cost?

See the KCSCEP website for a listing of fees.

What time is Third Base over?

Third Base closes at 5:40 p.m. at most locations. Parents/guardians should check with the site director for that site’s closing time. There is a $1.00/minute late fee for all late pickups. If you cannot pick your child up by the designated closing time, you will need to make alternate arrangements. Only those persons listed on child’s enrollment form are permitted to sign your child out.
