Laidley Field Update
Early in July, work began on Laidley Field track renovations and resurfacing to repair the aging surface and create a safe place for students and the community. The work was scheduled to be completed on the track by the first football practice for all teams using the field. As part of the normal removal process, the contractor discovered an issue with the track’s sub-surface and some additional drainage issues. It took approximately two weeks for the contractor to repair the sub-surface and install the new asphalt, and two-weeks to cure before the new rubber surface could be applied. The work on the new rubber surface began yesterday afternoon and, with good weather, will be completed by the week starting Aug. 19th.
Separately, the repairs to Laidley Field due to tornado damage are being conducted and are expected to be done by Aug. 22nd. This includes new goal posts and turf straightening.
In the meantime, all teams using Laidley Field for football practice have made arrangements to practice at other fields. The alternate locations were selected by each team.
