This year the students of South Charleston Middle School participated in a Canned Food Drive that helped benefit Heart and Hand’s Christmas Food Baskets for the needy and we had an outstanding turn out! There was a grade level competition between 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, to see who could collect the most cans or non-perishable food items.
After just two weeks of collecting, sorting, and counting our students brought in a total of 2,150 items to be donated to our community. All the grade levels did an amazing job, but the 1st Place winner of the contest was seventh grade with a total of 1,286 items. Sixth grade came in 2nd Place with a total of 494 items and not far behind was eighth grade with a total of 370 items. Way to go to everyone who participated and helped support our South Charleston community!
